Criteria for Admission to Ben Madigan

Preliminary application forms, prospectuses and further details may be obtained from the school office at Ben Madigan. The Head of the Preparatory Department is available by appointment if further information is required.

Preliminary application forms may be submitted at any time from birth but should ideally be received by the beginning of October prior to the admission date, as interviews take place in November to enable places to be offered by January. Should later applications be received they will be placed on a waiting list and places offered if they become available using the criteria below.

Following interview, places are allocated according to the following criteria, providing that the child will have attained his/her 4th birthday by 1st July in the year of admission:

Pre-Prep: Order of receipt of application form.

Prep 1: Applicants will be ranked as follows -

a} Has been attending Ben Madigan Pre-prep.
b} Has a sibling at Ben Madigan in Preps. 1 - 7.
c} Has previously had a sibling at Ben Madigan.
d} Parent{s} attended B.R.A./the Preparatory Department.
e} Grandparent{s} attended B.R.A./the Preparatory Department.
f} Has shown readiness for school in an interview with the Head of KS1, according to date of birth.

Admission to other classes may be possible and an appointment to discuss this may be made with the Head of the Preparatory Department.

The school reserves the right not to accept any child if he/she has needs which cannot be met within existing resources.

Securing a place in Prep 1

A non-refundable deposit of £250 is required for all pupils to secure their place in Prep 1.
This payment will then be offset against the fees payable for Prep 1.
